I am in the top 34% of my class and my course of study has emphasized criminal law. I earned high marks in
Criminal Law, Constitutional Law, Evidence, Trial Advocacy, Criminal Procedure and Legal Research and
Writing. I also earned the top grade in Advanced Appellate Advocacy. Additionally, I made it to the semi-final
round of Barry’s annual Bluebook Competition. In both Moot Court competitions in which I have competed,
my teammates and I finished in the Elite Eight. As a Study Skills Leader and Teaching Assistant, I have helped
countless students succeed in every aspect of law school.
I have also completed three internships and an externship. As a criminal law division legal intern at Phillips and
Associates I assisted with a five-day criminal trial and was responsible for organizing all materials, including
pleadings and discovery, from a case with more than 100 defendants and over 1,000 separate criminal counts.
During the summer of 2010, I was the Legal Intern for Hock Law Group, where I researched and drafted an
appellate brief regarding admissibility of evidence in criminal trials.
Currently, I am interning for the Federal Public Defender for the Middle District of Florida. Last semester I
was an extern, receiving school credit, and was asked to continue as an intern this semester. While working
with several attorneys and staff members, I have drafted different types of legal memoranda for multiple clients,
conducted client interviews, and reported information to attorneys after calculating federal sentencing guidelines
for our clients.
Last semester, I participated in an eight-week trial with eleven co-defendants, where our client was charged with
thirteen criminal counts. I assisted the attorney with pre-trial motions and preparation, as well as all aspects of
the trial, from voir dire to the closing argument. I also helped two co-defendants’ attorneys with their closing
arguments during the actual arguments in court.
I went to law school to become a criminal attorney and after attending law school here I have decided to make
Orlando my permanent home. I hope to have the opportunity to do so.
